Students at the Automotive School Complex in Łódź, Poland, are taking their refinish skills to the next level with support from PPG’s community engagement grant program and our COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® initiative. The school is a recognized leader in refinish training in Poland, and has worked closely with PPG and our refinish technical team through the years to offer the latest products and technologies to its students.
Using funds from our community engagement grant program, school administrators recently invested in multiple instructional upgrades, including new spray guns with tanks, a specialized car lift and eccentric grinders. Approximately 100 students will have access to the updated training equipment when in-person classes begin again.
Grant funds also enabled administrators to renovate and insulate the car workshop and the building facade. Once the façade surface was ready for painting, local artist Magdalena Kapela designed and completed a vibrant auto-themed mural using PPG paints as part of a Colorful Communities project. Coronavirus restrictions prevented our employee volunteers from participating in the project this year but they hope to resume community engagement activities as soon as possible.
“Through our partnership with the Automotive School Complex, we’re helping students develop critical work readiness skills and linking them to PPG products and technologies,” said Grzegorz Koźmiński, communications manager, Poland. “We’re honored share our skills and technologies with the next generation, and we look forward to additional opportunities to work with the students and the school.”
