PPG supports emergency relief efforts in Czech Republic

Community Sustainability, Global Giving
Just hours after a category F4 tornado tore through the South Moravia region of the Czech Republic, PPG and our employees across the region quickly mobilized to provide financial assistance and other support to affected communities. The rare tornado, the worst to hit the Czech Republic in decades, struck several villages in the Hodonín and Břeclav districts in late June, killing six people and injuring at least 200 others. Several PPG employees live in the area and work at our Architectural Coatings (AC) Decorating Centre in Hodonín; the store was nearly destroyed.
In response, PPG has committed a donation to relief efforts. In addition, employees in the Czech Republic and across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) raised funds that will be donated to Diecézní Charita Brno, an organization affiliated with our Brno Shared Service Center (SSC) Charity Partner. PPG will match employee contributions 2:1 and donate additional funding to help local families rebuild their homes and their lives.
“Our thoughts are with those who live and work in these devastated communities," said Petter Frisell, director, SSC. “The efforts of our company and employees across the Czech Republic truly demonstrate what it means to 'protect and beautify the world.' We are living our mission and working as 'One PPG' to help our communities in need."
In addition to monetary donations, our Czech Architectural Coatings business is expected to make a significant product donation to several schools in the affected area.
“As a community partner, we want to do all we can to help our region get back on its feet," said Jan Sipan, sales director, AC, EMEA, Czech Republic. “Donating our products to school reconstruction efforts is an important way we can make that happen."
