PPG employee and company emerging needs relief donations are supporting reopening programs at 18 schools in China’s Yunnan and Jiangxi provinces following the lifting of the country’s COVID-19-related lockdown.
More than $60,000 was raised for this purpose, with the PPG Foundation matching PPG China employee donations.
“We are proud that the generosity of our employees will help ensure a safe reopening of schools in communities that many of us call home,” said Cathy Yan, PPG general manager, corporate and government affairs, Asia Pacific.
In order to safely reopen, the schools needed surgical masks, thermometers, disinfecting gels, mist-disinfection machines and smart thermometers. The Chinese Red Cross Foundation used the PPG and employee donations to purchase and distribute those supplies.
PPG made an earlier donation of $143,000 to the Chinese Red Cross Foundation to assist with mid- to long-term COVID-19 recovery efforts, including providing financial support to more than 330 healthcare workers in Wuhan No.1 Hospital. The company also donated more than 290 gallons of MASTER’S MARK™ anti-bacterial interior latex coatings to Shanghai Tong Ren Hospital for renovation of its medical facilities.
“We truly appreciate the dedication of frontline healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Yan.
