PPG employees in Sumaré -SP, Brazil recently took a creative approach to supporting their neighbors in need – without even leaving their homes.
Purchasing food items and gathering their own new and gently used toys and clothing items as donations, the employees partnered with Nisfram, a local organization whose work meets the emerging needs of the region to promote a better quality of life for those in need. PPG and Nisfram have partnered in the past on educational programs for local children.
To ensure social distancing and avoid health risks due to the Coronavirus pandemic, PPG partnered with a shipping company and PPG vendor, who collected the items at each employee’s home and delivered them to Nisfram. From there, Nisfram distributed the donated items to families in the region.
According to Rodolfo Rodrigues, PPG refinish automotive coatings marketing coordinator, in challenging times, it is important to reach out to those in need and help.
“Through this initiative, PPG kept its purpose of protecting and beautifying the world alive, and at the same time cared about employees’ safety by providing a way for us to help from the comfort of our homes,” said Rodrigues.
With items from the PPG employees’ donations, Nisfram was able to create care kits for 35 families in the Sumaré community.
“The safety and health of our employees and our community members is always of great importance,” said Camila Gazotto, corporate communications and community engagement analyst. “We are proud to partner with Nisfram to support our neighbors, all while doing so in a safe way that minimizes the risks associated with the pandemic.”
