Cultivating curiosity in chemistry and color

An eager learner conducting an experiment at the Great Lakes Science Center, Cleveland, Ohio
The work we do in our labs helps to create innovations and inventions that improve how we move, work and live. Our work demonstrates the power of color and its ability to create joy, to change moods and to brighten a future. And, it enables a passion for protecting our environment for future generations.
Witnessing a student’s reaction to a classroom chemistry project sparks the same sentiment our chemists experience in formulating new technology, innovations and color applications. We create partnerships and fund opportunities that lead today’s students to tomorrow’s world-changing chemistry careers.
At a practical level, what does this look like?
We target schools with chemistry classrooms that are in need of makeovers - using the power of our COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® program to both renovate their spaces and fund new tools and equipment to provide a modern chemistry learning experience.
We support color programming that aligns with PPG’s deep expertise in the science (and magic) of color and coatings. We understand just how connected chemistry and color are in creating innovations that change the world around us, so we seek to root this link to learning opportunities.
And, we work closely with our science center partners to enhance chemistry learning, often through the co-creation of chemistry labs for the public to explore and enjoy. Learn more about our science center commitments.

Modern society cannot do without modern technologies. Unfortunately, not every school can afford modern equipment in every class. The children can now have the education they dreamed of.
Expanding chemistry exploration
Through a PPG grant, hundreds of students in Russia will benefit from new lab equipment and access tools to develop their curiosity, skills and passion for chemistry. Modern equipment expands the minds of students through research and chemistry experiments.
